Mr Barney Hallam formed Heath Panthers Football Club in 1987. The idea to form the club came about due to the lack of organised sport for young boys aged 10 years old.
The first football pitch was in Shenley Hill Road on grassland opposite the housing estate, this proved to be the turning point in the clubs history as more children attended than the area could cater for safely, so better facilities were sought.
Heath Panthers name was derived from the area of Heath and Reach and a request from the boys to add the Panthers twist to spice the clubs image up. The first fixtures were arranged on a friendly basis, this soon developed into a regular appointment into local league football.
The team moved to R.A.F. Stanbridge and used the facilities available until the closure of the base, they then moved to
Gilbert Inglefield Middle School and were still enjoying the use of the pitches until up to the end of 2002. Heath Panthers Football Club had arrived.
Since 2002, Heath Panthers Football Club haven't really had a home ground which all age groups used. Instead, the age groups have had different home grounds. The older 11-a-side age groups have used Thrift Road, Heath & Reach, or the playing fields opposite
Leighton United Football Club's home base in Tilsworth, whereas the younger 7-a-side age groups have used somewhere else.
Heath Panthers football teams are active in most age groups throughout local league football with a fair measure of success. The football club has also contributed to the success of the local schools in various competitions. The support of parents, friends and relations continues to be a real bonus. Barney Hallam enjoyed being made a life vice president by the football club, until he sadly passed away in October 2008 at the age of 88.
In 2001,
Ashley Bartlett, a budding website designer, set up a website for his brother's team, Heath Panthers Under 13's. By the end of the 2001-2002 season, he was asked by the Chairman at the time, to produce a website for the whole football club.
In 2002, Heath Panthers Football Club had made it on the web. Since then,
Ashley Bartlett has remained the Webmaster for our website, and has continued to develop it every season, as he gained more experience of website design.
In 2008, the club set up it's first ever "all girls" team called the Heath Panthers Kittens. They started at U11s level competing in the Chiltern Junior Sevens League.
